GALLATIN INVITES PUBLIC TO NEW WATER PLANT

GALLATIN’S BOARD OF ALDERMEN AUTHORIZED MAYOR BARB BALLEW TO SIGN A CERTIFICATE OF SUBSTANTIAL COMPLETION THE NEW WATER PLANT IF THE CERTIFICATE IS APPROVED BY THE CITY’S ATTORNEY. GALLATIN HELD THEIR COUNCIL MEETING ON MONDAY NIGHT. MAYOR BARB BALLEW ALSO PUBLICLY INVITED EVERYONE TO TOUR THE NEW WATER PLANT ON THURSDAY FROM 2 UNTIL 6PM. THE BOARD APPROVED PAYMENTS TO ROSS CONSTRUCTION FOR 188 THOUSAND 140 DOLLARS AND SNYDER AND ASSOCIATES FOR 19 THOUSAND 195 DOLLARS. PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR MARK MOREY ANNOUNCED THAT PAVING WORK WILL BE PERFORMED ON WILLOW STREET THIS WEEK. A DISCUSSION WAS HELD REGARDING DUST CONTROL ON SOUTH PROSPECT DUE TO THE INCREASED TRAFFIC FROM THE HIGHWAY 13 BRIDGE BEING CLOSED. THERE WILL ALSO BE A NEED FOR DUST CONTROL IN FRONT OF THE WATER PLANT. THE COUNCIL ALSO APPROVED AN ORDINANCE THAT WILL VACATE AND DISCONTINUE A PORTION OF A PUBLIC STREET. PART OF A PLATTED STREET IN THE GALLATIN INDUSTRIAL PARK IS NOT USED. THE CITY WILL VACATE THE RIGHT-OF-WAY AS A PUBLIC STREET. COUNCIL MEMBERS ALSO DISCUSSED EXAMPLES OF GRAVE MARKING ORDINANCES AND HELD A DISCUSSION REGARDING A CHICKEN RAISING ORDINANCE. THEY AUTHORIZED THE MAYOR TO SIGN A TERMINATION AGREEMENT WITH SUPERIOR CABLE AND APPROVED A 25 CENT PER HOUR PAY INCREASE TO LAURIE ROLL WHO IS RETURNING TO BE THE 2018 POOL MANAGER.
