LAMONI BOARD HOLDS MAY MEETING

LAMONI SUPERINTENDENT CHRIS COFFELT TOLD LAMONI SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS MONDAY THAT THE DECATUR COUNTY CORPORATION AND SOUTHWESTERN COMMUNITY COLLEGE ARE EXPLORING OPTIONS AND LOCATIONS TO BUILD A CONSTRUCTION TRADE ACADEMY HOUSE NEXT YEAR DURING THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR IN LAMONI. LAMONI SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS HELD THEIR MAY MEETING ON MONDAY. SUPERINTENDENT COFFELT ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT THE LAMONI SCHOOL DISTRICT’S SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM WILL OFFER BREAKFAST BETWEEN 8AM AND 9AM AND LUNCH FROM 11AM UNTIL 12:30PM BEGINNING MONDAY, JUNE 4TH THROUGH FRIDAY, JUNE 29TH. THE PROGRAM WILL BE OPEN TO THE COMMUNITY AND IS FREE FOR BIRTH THROUGH AGE 18. THE PROGRAM WILL NOT BE OFFERED IN JULY. THE SUPERINTENDENT ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT THE 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTER WILL PROVIDE GRANT FUNDS FOR PROGRAMS JUNE 4TH THROUGH JUNE 29TH. THAT WILL BE DONE IN COLLABORATION WITH FUNSHINE FROM 8AM UNTIL NOON ON SITE. LAMONI’S BOARD ACCEPTED A RESIGNATION FROM VELMA WENGRYN AS SCHOOL NUTRITION DIRECTOR. SHE WILL CONTINUE TO SERVE AS A BUS ROUTE AND ACTIVITY DRIVER. THE LAMONI BOARD ALSO APPROVED THE OPERATIONAL SHARING TRANSPORTATION INCENTIVES WITH CENTRAL DECATUR FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR. BIDS WERE ALSO APPROVED FOR NEXT YEAR TO HV-VEE FOR BREAD PRODUCTS AND ANDERSON ERICKSON FOR MILK. LAMONI BACCULAUREATE WILL BE WEDNESDAY EVENING. GRADUATION WILL BE SATURDAY AT 2PM.
