DIAMONDS IN THE ROUGH

Most women love diamonds. Whether we purchase them for ourselves or receive them from that very special person who puts one unexpectedly on our finger, diamonds are a precious jewel that often is passed from generation to generation.   We love to strut our stuff and thoroughly enjoy the attention the glittering bauble brings our way.  After all, as the song goes, "Diamonds are a girl's best friend."

However, have you ever actually seen a diamond in the rough?  A diamond is a transparent gem made of carbon. Moreover, would you believe it takes 250 tons of ore to produce a one-caret gem quality polished diamond.  The ore must be mined, cleaned, separated, cut, polished, valued, and graded before it even reaches the local jeweler. No wonder diamonds have such a high price.

While we may never mine for real diamonds, there are diamonds in the rough all around us.  Perhaps it is a son, daughter, husband, friend, or co-worker.  Whoever it is, their diamond characteristics come ever closer to the surface due to our encouragement, love and concern.  Their beauty increases each time their value is polished by positive affirmations.    Never take a diamond in the rough for granted. They might just turn out to be the gem of all gems.

Until next week, abundant dreams.
