OUR AUTHENTIC SELVES - BY LINDA KREUTZER AND DONNA ROSE-HEIM

We are unique and wonderfully made. Therefore, we each need to live our lives fully as ourselves. If tempted to look at others and wish we were just like them, or that their lives, and talents were ours–--DON’T---- envy brings strife and bitterness in to our lives. We each were born with gifts and talents that are our very own. We have a destiny, and a purpose to fulfill that no else can.
Usually we want to emulate another because we see things in ourselves that we don’t like. We also fear rejection because we don’t think much of ourselves. We then reason, “Why would anyone else like or accept us?”
We all desire to be accepted, but at what cost? Losing our authentic self should not be an option. If there is something we do not like about ourselves then we need to work to change it. The first place to start might be our attitude. Our attitude affects our motives. Be thankful for all the blessings we DO have, rather than dwell on what we would rather have. Strive to cultivate a heart of joy and loving service to others. Serving others brings joy into our lives and develops in us a spirit of thankfulness.
Always strive to do the best you can in whatever role you find yourself. If you are a mom, be the best mom and remember you are shaping lives. If you work in an office, give your boss the respect he or she deserves whether you like, or agree with them. If you work in a factory, or warehouse be the best you can be whatever your position. If you work in a hospital, or care facility what a wonderful opportunity to utter healing words to those who are suffering and lonely. If you are a student, get all you can out of every subject to prepare you to advance toward your destiny in life.
Let us walk our walk and live our life remembering to treat all living things with respect and reverence. We live in a wonderful community where opportunities abound. Our collective, unique talents make it so.
