10 Students Treated For Minor Injuries After School Bus Accident Wednesday

A total of 10 St. Joseph students were treated for minor injuries Wednesday after their school bus was hit by a truck during its afternoon route.

Authorities say the bus was turning into a private drive for an apartment complex off of Riverside Road, south of U.S. Highway 36, when a truck traveling northbound on Riverside Road struck the rear of the bus.

A total of 24 students from Central High School and Truman Middle School were on the bus at the time. Five were taken by ambulance to Mosaic Life Care for treatment of minor injuries. Five others were taken to the hospital by parents.

The St. Joseph School District says they will provide any counseling services those students need starting today.

The driver of the truck was cited for the accident.
