5 Hour Clinton County Standoff Ends After Report Of 2-Day Torture

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies were part of a call in Lake Arrowhead about a female who had escaped from being held against her will and severely assaulted and tortured for 2 days while being held.

The call came around 9:30 Saturday morning. Deputies and Troopers were unable to get inside the residence at SE Apache Drive in Lake Arrowhead. The Tri-County SWAT team was activated and deployed after negotiations began with one resident coming out of the address. Another was still held up inside and said to be armed and suicidal.

After 5 hours, K9 Merlin and the SWAT team located James Larson Jr of Lathrop to be hiding in a false wall. He was taken into custody. He is currently being held on an unrelated no bond probation warrant.

The victim was taken to an area hospital and is in guarded critical condition.

The Holt Fire and EMS, Tri-County SWAT, the Lathrop and Plattsburg Police Departments, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol aided the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Department.

Charges will be filed with the Clinton County Prosecutor’s office.
