Three Seriously Injured In Rollover Accident Early Sunday

 

Three St. Joseph residents were left with serious injuries in a roll over accident early Sunday in Andrew County.

The HIghway Patrol reports 26-year-old St. Joseph resident Thomas J. Simonson was driving a 2009 Toyota Matrix southbound on Route D , about six miles north of St. Joseph, at 1:45 A.M. Sunday when he attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway.

The vehicle crossed the center line when Simonson reportedly overcorrected and the vehicle went off the west side of the roadway where it overturned, coming to rest ton its wheels facing southeast..

Simonson was not wearing a seat belt.  His two passengers, 26-year-old Brittany M. Cunningham and a 3-year-old female both of St. Joseph, were buckled up.

All three individuals suffered serious injuries and were taken by Andrew County EMS to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph for treatment.

Simonson was also arrested for felony driving while intoxicated with serious physical injury. He was released for medical treatment.
