All-Night Filibuster in Missouri Senate Over Congressional Redistricting Map

(Missourinet) An all-night filibuster in the Missouri Senate is an attempt by the Conservative Caucus to eliminate a Democrat- leaning Congressional District. The Senate Conservative Caucus, often at odds with the rest of the GOP majority, wants a 7 and 1 map instead of the 6-2 map approved in the House and is now in the Senate.

Cass County’s Rick Brattin held the floor for part of the night

Senator Brattin says that the Congressional districts should look more like the Republican Supermajority in the Legislature.

About 7am – Senate Majority Leader Caleb Rowden introduced a compromise plan that is still 6-2, but cut into the St.Louis District in favor of Republicans.
