Annual Prayer Service Set for First Day of Legislative Session
On the first day of the new session of the Missouri General Assembly, lawmakers will join for the 17th annual Prayer Service for government leaders. The event, which is open to the public, will take place on January 5, 2022 at 9 a.m. at Concord Baptist Church in Jefferson City.
The prayer service, hosted by Concord Baptist Church and the Missouri Baptist Convention’s Christian Life Commission, will feature Eddie Bumpers, pastor of Crossway Baptist Church of Springfield.
According the The Pathway, this year’s prayer event is based on 1 Timothy 2:1-3, which commands that “entreaties and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of men, for kings and all who are in authority.”
The annual prayer service is attended by lawmakers, statewide officeholders, legislative staff and members of the judiciary.
