Apparent Murder Suicide in Andrew County

Friday night the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department responded to a suicide call.

A press release from Sheriff Bryan Atkins says an unnamed man called at 11:48 pm saying he was going to shoot himself before disconnecting the call. The man called 911 a few minutes later saying that he was arguing with someone that he was going to kill. He said he would kill himself to keep from going to jail.

When deputies arrived on the scene in Helena, Missouri they found a 51-year-old white female lying dead on the floor from a gunshot wound with a 58-year-old white man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound sitting in a chair.

A handwritten letter was found at the scene saying the argument had been about the man wishing to commit suicide. It is believed he had some health issues. An investigation is currently underway.
