Appointments Announced For NWMSU Board Of Regents

Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced two appointments to the Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents.

Stephen Coppinger and Shanda Durbin were the appointments that were announced. The appointments will require confirmation by the Missouri Senate. Stephen Coppinger of Kansas City will fill the seat of Dr. Marilou Joyner of Kansas City. Shanda Durbin of St. Joseph would replace George Speckman of St Joseph.

Stephen Coppinger is president of the furniture dealership Impact Interiors that he founded in 2013. He was also a member of the 1998 Northwest Missouri State national champion football team and is a member of the M-Club Hall of Fame. He has a Master of Business Administration from Rockhurst University.

Shanda Durbin is the director of human resources at Herzog Contracting Corp. in St. Joseph, where she has been employed in various roles since 2010. She earned her bachelor’s degree in corporate recreation and wellness at Northwest in 2010 and is active with the Northwest Alumni Association.

Northwest’s nine-member Board of Regents is responsible for sound resource management of the University and determining general, educational and financial policies.
