Archery Recognized As Missouri’s State Sport

A signing ceremony was held recently in Springfield on legislation designating archery as Missouri’s state sports. Missouri Department of Conservation Agent Josh Roller says Missouri has a couple significant ties to the sport and the development of archery.

Holless Wibur Allen was the individual who Agent Roller alluded to with his invention of the compound bow. Former 4-H archery instructor Tim Taylor of Cooper County sponsored the legislation.
