Arrest Made In Ford Plant Hoax

Clay County authorities say they have made an arrest in a threat hoax that took place at the Ford plant in Claycomo.

According to information released today by the Clay County Sheriff, they, officers with Claycomo Police, and federal partners made an arrest of an individual in that case and charges are pending.

The Sheriff’s Department says at about 5:20 P.M. a call came into the Ford safety and risk management team from a man who claimed to be armed with explosives, a rifle, and a handgun, that said he was barricaded in the second floor bathroom in the paint area of the plant.

Ford ceased all production and evacuated the plant and canceled production for the night shift.

Law enforcement said the man who called said he was an employee and was disgruntled, but that he gave a name that is not an actual employee of the paint area. He did however name his supervisor, and that was the correct name.

At about 2:50 A.M. authorities wrapped up their search of the Ford plant saying they did not locate anyone inside and determined the threat was not credible

In an update this morning authorities say they made an arrest in the case but have not yet released any information about the suspect.
