Ashcroft Urges Parson to Set Election to Fill Vacant House Seats

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft is calling for Governor Parson to take action to fill vacant House seats.

There are currently four seats vacant, with two more vacancies expected. Ashcroft asked Governor Parson to issue writs of election by January 10th in order for elections to be held with the April 5th Municipal Election. By holding the special elections at the same time as municipal elections, costs would be minimal.

Without a special election, the seats will remain vacant until January 2023. The vacant seats are around the Kansas City, St. Louis and Cape Girardeau areas.
