Ballistic Shields Purchased by Nodaway County Sheriff’s Department

MARYVILLE, MO- The Gladys Rickard Charitable Trust funded the purchase of fourteen ballistic shields for the Nodaway County Sheriff’s Office. Each deputy has been assigned a shield, which will be carried in the patrol vehicle.

Sheriff Strong says the objective for the ballistic shield project is to add another element of protection for deputies if they respond to a call involving an active shooter. In addition, the shields may be used when serving high-risk search warrants or felony traffic stops.

Each shield cost $1,700.
