A Barnard man suffered injuries in a Nodaway County crash involving a deer this morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 7:07 this morning on U.S. 71, a mile north of Pumpkin Center, as 20-year-old Quentin B. Murphy drove northbound.

Troopers say Murphy struck a deer that crossed the roadway and came to a controlled stop on the shoulder of U.S. 71.

Murphy suffered minor injuries and sought treatment at Mosaic in Maryville.

Authorities say Murphy did wear a seat belt at the time of the crash.
