Harrison County authorities have charged a Bethany man with a felony and two misdemeanor charges after they say he violated an order of protection.

In a probable cause affidavit filed by the Bethany Police Department, it is alleged 43-year old Bert Lee Ellison made contact with an individual by Facebook Messenger whom had an active order of protection against him. Officers say Ellison sent at least 44 messages from Friday evening to Saturday afternoon and was still messaging her as officers were taking the report.

It is also alleged that Ellison sent pictures of himself holding a pistol, which they say he is not allowed to possess as a felon. In a 911 call on Saturday, the victim stated Ellison had stopped in the street in front of her house.

Ellison is facing a felony of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm; Harassment; and Violation of an Order of Protection. He is incarcerated in the Harrison County Jail on a $15,000 bond. Ellison is set to appear for arraignment today (Monday).
