Bethany Student Among NWMSU Honors Program Study Abroad Scholarship Recipients

MARYVILLE, MO – Northwest Missouri State University’s Honors Program recently awarded scholarships to five students in support of their study abroad experiences during the 2022 to 23 academic year.

Scholarship recipients include Kierra Shelby, a sophomore vocal music education major from Bethany; Kelby Dressler, a junior public relations major from Eudora, Kansas; Nathan Armbrust, a senior criminology major from Omaha, Nebraska; Sierra Brewka, a senior criminal justice and psychology major from St. Joseph; and Laurie Cox, a junior English major from Smithville.

Dr. Elyssa Ford, the director of the Honors Program and associate professor of history says studying in another country helps students expand their horizons and understanding of the world. One of the integral parts of the Honors Programs is to encourage global citizenship.

Shelby will participate in Psychological Perspectives of Childhood and Play at Northwest in the summer, culminating with a visit to Northern Ireland.
