Bethany Teen Charged in String of Property Crimes

Harrison County authorities have charged a 17-year old Bethany resident with multiple felonies after an investigation led them to believe she had a part in a string of property crimes throughout Bethany and Harrison County.

A probable cause statement issued by Sheriff Trevor Place states officers with the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Bethany Police Department responded to a residence in Bethany to make contact with 17-year old Christa Lynn Freeseman in August in reference to the property crimes.

Sheriff Place says Freeseman had made a social media post demonstrating knowledge of a stolen vehicle. During a search, officers say they found Freeseman and co-defendant, 18-year old Joshua David Rakestraw in the home. Place alleges Freeseman made statements regarding the presence of firearms and debit cards belonging to other individuals, as well as the presence of controlled substances. Law enforcements reports Freeseman was in possession of a firearm while also possessing a controlled substance, and also had keys to a stolen vehicle.

Fresseman is charged with two felony counts of stealing; possession of a controlled substance; tampering with a motor vehicle; and unlawful use of a weapon. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

Her co-defendant, Joshua David Rakestraw was charged with stealing, weapon, and drug charges in late October.
