(MISSOURINET) – Health insurance companies could be required in Missouri to cover the full cost of follow-up exams used to diagnose breast cancer if an initial mammogram finds potential problems. State Representative Brenda Shields, a Republican from St. Joseph, is sponsoring a bill that could save Missouri patients hundreds of dollars. Her legislation has made its way to the Missouri Senate.
State Representative Doug Richey, a fellow Republican from Excelsior Springs, opposes the bill because he says it would increase healthcare costs.
