Blunt Announces Further Financing For East Locust Creek Project

Missouri U.S. Senator Roy Blunt says an additional $8 million in funding has been awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to modernize equipment for the East Locust Creek water treatment plant.

The East Locust Creek Reservoir includes Mercer, Putnam, Grundy, Sullivan, Livingston, Schuyler, Adair, Linn, Macon, and Chariton counties.

The project is projected to serve as a reliable water supply for 54,000 residents in the 10-county region.

The project has previously received $20 million dollars in federal financing for infrastructure and phase construction costs in 2018 and $13.5 million dollars for road construction and upgrades surrounding the project’s area late last year.

The project is being constructed north of Milan.
