Blunt Selected As State Historical Society President

Retired U.S. Missouri Senator Roy Blunt has been elected as the president of the State Historical Society for a three-year term.

The State Historical Society collects, preserves, and shares the public materials related to all aspects and periods of Missouri history. Its holdings include newspapers, manuscripts, rare books, maps, oral histories, photographs, editorial cartoons, and an extensive art collection of important artworks related to the state’s history and westward expansion.

Blunt was a history teacher and county official before he became Missouri’s Secretary of State in 1984. He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives 7 times and was a Missouri Senator for two terms. He also served as president of his alma mater, Southwest Baptist University in Bolivar.
