Bond has been set for assault charges for a man from Higbee.
Charges of assault for 21-year-old Edward James Elijah Withey were brought against him for an alleged attack of another detainee after Withey had been arrested on charges of first-degree murder for allegedly murdering his wife, Mattie back in May.
For the two counts of assault, bond was set at $35,000 cash-only with probable cause that he could be a danger to the victim or community.
Withey is scheduled for a hearing on November 3, 2021, on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action, and abandonment of a corpse. He was listed as having an apartment in Milan at the time of those charges.
