Byrnes Mill Man Charged in Fatal Clinton County Crash

A Byrnes Mill, Missouri man faces charges after a fatal Monday traffic crash in Clinton County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on Highway 116, about four miles east of Lathrop, when a vehicle driven by 43-year-old Byrnes Mill resident John F. Pollock was heading westbound.

Troopers say Pollock crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the side of an oncoming eastbound vehicle driven by 44-year-old Kansas City resident Benjamin G. Reed.

Authorities say Reed lost control, traveled off the north side of the road, overturned several times, and was ejected.

Reed was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County Coroner Lee Hanks.

No injuries were listed for Pollock.

Following the crash, troopers arrested Pollock on preliminary charges of felony leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, felony first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, and felony second-degree involuntary manslaughter.

Pollock was taken to the Clinton County Jail and booked on a 24-hour hold.
