Cameron Man Accused of Rape Pleads Not Guilty

The man from Cameron who stands accused of rape entered a plea of not guilty.

The accused, 22-year-old Ja’Quawn N Jones, was arrested after an incident with a 16-year-old girl where he allegedly pushed the girl onto the hood of his car in a field on Northwest Custer Drive in Cameron. An affidavit says the girl told him no multiple times but Jones told her he had a gun in the vehicle. He is charged with first-degree rape or attempted rape and fourth-degree child molestation with a child under 17 and older than 4 years of age.

He appeared in court via Polycom and by attorney Jane Dunn Tuesday and waived formal arraignment. After entering a not guilty plea, the defense requested a continuance on November 9, 2021, for plea and trial setting.
