Cameron Man Injured & Charged in Wednesday Night Crash

A Cameron man suffered injuries and faces preliminary charges in a Clinton County crash from Wednesday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 7:35 Wednesday night on I-35, a mile south of Lathrop, as 23-year-old Trenton A. McElvain drove northbound.

Troopers say McElvain drove off the west side of the road, struck the emergency crossover, became airborne, struck the ground, and overturned his pickup.

McElvain suffered serious injuries and sought treatment at Liberty Hospital.

Authorities say McElvain did not wear a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Following the accident, troopers arrested McElvain on preliminary charges of driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident, not having valid insurance, and not wearing a seat belt.
