Cameron Man Injured in Early Morning Clay County Crash

Troopers report a Cameron man suffered injuries in a Clay County crash early this morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred on I-35, near mile marker 23.8, as a vehicle driven by 20-year-old Maurice J. Shivers drove southbound.

Authorities say Shivers struck the back of a southbound SUV, traveled off the left side of the road, and came to a rest in the median.

Following the crash, troopers say the SUV fled the scene.

Shivers suffered minor injuries and sought treatment at Liberty Hospital.

Authorities say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
