Catholic Charities bringing Mobile Food Pantry To Area

More help is coming to the area for those people that are food insecure.

This week Catholic Charities of Kansas City- St. Joseph (CCKCSJ) announced they have launched Serve and Lift Centers in Cameron and South KC. The CCKCSJ will also begin mobile food pantry outreach from their Cameron location beginning Monday, May 23.

Using the Cameron Serve and Lift Center as a hub, the CCKCSJ will partner with several parishes to extend their reach in our area to one to two days per week. The five parishes include Mary Immaculate in Gallatin, St. Patrick’s and St. Charles Place in St. Joseph, Blessed Sacrament in Bethany, St. Patrick’s Mission in Forest City, and St. Joseph in Trenton.

The mobile outreach will provide shelf stable food, fresh produce and hygiene items for families who have pre-ordered and for walk-ups.

They hope to eventually provide Welcome Center services by appointment as well. A resource specialist would travel with our mobile outreach van to meet with families and determine the obstacles that are hindering their path to self-sufficiency. Examples of support they hope to offer in the future through our mobile team include ancillary services such as rental, utility, and other financial assistance to those in need.

The Cameron Distribution Center is located at 417 Northland Drive in Cameron. To place an online food order and to view the outreach schedule, go to serveandliftcenter.org
