Central Decatur Approves Purpose Statement Of Save Funds For Election Ballot

Central Decatur School Board members adopted the Resolution Approved Revenue Purpose Statement which will go before voters to authorize the district to spend SAVE funds during their July meeting. The SAVE funds are dedicated to public schools from what is commonly known as the penny sales tax in Iowa.

The district also selected priority items for the district to submit to the Iowa Association of School Boards for the 2024 legislative session. Those priority items include the provision of sufficient and timely funding to meet education goals and ensuring private schools receiving public funds are held to the same standard, establishing school and community health systems to offer preventative and treatment for mental health services, supporting tools to recruit individuals to the teaching profession, and providing professional development and retention practices for every Iowa school district.

Board members approved the sharing of tech services through Green Hills AEA and Tech Director Position of Lamoni’s School District. They also approved the development of an agreement between the City of Leon and the Central Decatur School District for a School Resource Officer.

Bids for products and services were approved by the dsitrict. The board approved an increase in lunch fees. South Elementary lunch will be $3.50. The North Elementary lunch will cost $3.25. The MS/HS lunch price will be $3.50. The Adult lunch price will be $5.00.

Approval was also given for a proposal for the supplemental pay schedule. It changes the percentage of the base which determines the compensation for coaches and sponsors.

Change orders were also approved for the HVAC project at Central Decatur.
