Central Decatur Board Approves Girls Wrestling Cooperative, eSports Season

Central Decatur School Board members approved a Girls Wrestling Sharing Agreement with the Lamoni and Mount Ayr Schools for the 2023-24 school year during their October Meeting. The cooperative will represent the school districts under the name “Southern Tier Wrestling”.

Central Decatur’s board also approved adding a fall season for eSports and sharing all seasons of eSports with the Lamoni School District. Alex Burnette will serve as the coach of eSports.

Board members discussed the staff survey results on the interest of exploring a four day school week calendar. Both benefits and concerns were discussed. According to the report, there was a high interest in exploring the option. There will be a survey shared with parents to get their feedback, but the idea will continue to be explored.

Approval was given to the Iowa Health Careers Registered Apprenticeship Program On-The-Job training Memorandum of Understanding with Decatur County Hospital.

Cassy Allen was hired as Head Middle School Girls Basketball Coach.

The Board of Director Elections and Central Decatur’s Revenue Purpose Statement Referendum will be held November 7th.
