Central Decatur Board Approves New Gymnasium Floor Bid

Central Decatur School Board members approved the bid for the replacement of their junior high and high school gymnasium floor during their March meeting. A bid from Phillips Floors was accepted by the district’s directors. Central Decatur’s gymnasium floor is being replaced after water damage was experienced over the winter due to a frozen pipe.

There will be a public hearing on the budget at the April 19th meeting. That budget will also be approved at that meeting. The 2023 mowing bid was approved for Tharp Lawn Care at $500 per complete mowing service. Board members approved the purchase of an additional competition wrestling mat from Resilite. Funding will come from the Central Decatur Booster Club and athletic advertising revenue. A grant has also been submitted to the South Central Iowa Community Foundation.

Central Decatur approved sharing agreements with Lamoni for bowling with Lamoni serving as the host sponsor, boys wrestling with Lamoni and girls wrestling as Southern Tier Wrestling, which will also be hosted by Central Decatur. The board will review the number of athletes interested in each of the athletic programs prior to the start of the season.

The Central Decatur board approved Alex Burnette as coach of Spring e-Sports, Melanie Puck for Assistant Junior High Softball, Ashton Trullinger as Elementary Special Education Teacher, Ashley Dittmer as Head Junior High Volleyball coach, Stephanie Drees as Basketball Cheer Sponsor, and Emily Layton as Drama Sponsor.
