Central Decatur Board Approves Salary Agreements
Central Decatur School Board members approved the tentative agreement for the 2023-24 school year with the Central Decatur Community School Employee Association during their June meeting. The agreement increases the hourly wage by $1. The increase of the total package will be 6.2%. The board also approved the salary increase for administration by 4.2% at the meeting. Later in the meeting, the board approved the list of certified and classified staff for 2023-24 contracts.
Leon City Administrator Kyle Sheetz and Police Chief Brad Gardner gave details regarding the School Resource Officer for the 2023-24 school year. The School Resource Officer would work 25 hours per week during the 2023-24 school year. The costs would be covered by the city for the first year. The board plans to review the matter next month.
Board members approved the purchase of 240 Lenovo Chromebooks for nearly $75,000.
Estes Construction Project Managers reviewed the progress for the HVAC project and reviewed four change orders with the board.
Superintendent Chris Coffelt discussed options for instructional technology supports and services for the upcoming year. The district also plans to advertise for an Elementary School Counselor.
Board members asked administration to develop language to restrict cell phone usage during instructional time during the day.
Board members approved the Memorandum of Understanding with Decatur County Hospital which identifies the school as an Alternate Care Site during an emergency situation at the hospital.
The board hired Matt Kruzich as Elementary Special Education Teacher and Assistant High School Volleyball Coach, Tim Casey as Kindergarten Teacher and Assistant High School Volleyball coach, Cayle Buckingham as Secondary School Counselor, and Peyton Pedersen and Peyton Gilbert to share an Assistant High School Football Position.
Resignations were accepted from Kim Elsberry as Secondary School Counselor, Stevel Neilssen from Instrumental Music, Cat Bethards as South Elementary Office Manager, Mindy Hamilton as Yearbook Sponsor, Wade Hamilton as Head Junior High Football Coach, and Jr Wells as Assistant Junior High Football Coach.
