Central Decatur Board Extends Superintendent’s Contract

With a 3-1 vote, Central Decatur’s School Board added an additional year to Superintendent Chris Coffelt’s contract during their recent special meeting.

The meeting included a review of the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress results for proficiency in English/Language Arts and Math for grades 3 through 11 and Science for grades 5, 8, and 10. Principal Amy Whittington noted that the results will be shared with parents and students in August when their are formally released by the Iowa Department of Education. She indicated that the results showed growth in most grades.

Superintendent Coffelt also gave his reflections on the past school year and started to look at potential goals for the 2021-22 school year.

Board members also reviewed the exit interviews from staff that left during the 2020-21 school year.
