Central Decatur Board Reorganizes, Approves Basketball Shot Clocks

Central Decatur School Board Members held their reorganizational meeting following the election held earlier this month during their November session. The oaths of office were administered to Amber Swartz, Cassy Allen, Andrew Sullivan, and Sean Saxton. Amber Swartz will be the Board President. Cassy Allen will serve as Vice-President. Becky Broich will be Secretary. Central Decatur’s regular meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month in the high school library. Verle Norris will be the school’s attorney. School depositories were also approved for the district.

Board members agreed to purchase basketball shot clocks for the district. The purchase will include $8,600 for the shot clocks and $5,700 for the scoreboard controls and receivers from H2I Group. Shot clocks will be mandatory for Iowa High Schools beginning with the 2022-23 basketball seasons. The vote was 4-1.

The board also agreed to renew the Recycling Disposal Agreement and the 28E Agreement for use of the wash bays located at the Transportation Facility.

Board members approved Chad Ray as Assistant Junior High Basketball Coach. Jill Sage was hired as a one-on-one special education para and Diane VanLaar as a cook.
