Central Decatur Discusses Capital Projects During December Session
The HVAC projects for the Central Decatur School District were reviewed at the December meeting. Federal ESSER III funding will be used to finance the project. The apparent low bid came from LA Fulton. There was a discussion about money needed to cover the gap between the ESSER III funding and the total project cost. The board will hold a special meeting on January 4th to decide on the projects and the funding options.
The board renewed the Natural Gas Program Participation Agreement for 2023-24 with the Iowa Local Government Risk Pool Commission. The agreement is intended to help the district mitigate budget risks which may come from winter heating and other natural gas consumption.
Angie Buckingham was appointed to serve as the Middle/High School Office Manager to replace Shondell Martin.
Central Decatur’s board will offer an Early Notification Stipend for the 2022-23 school year. This stipend is designed to allow the District a longer time-frame to advertise and fill the position with a high quality and highly qualified candidate for the 2023-24 school year. This stipend applies to full-time certified and classified employees, as well as non-certified directors and managers.
The board also received formal notice that the Iowa High School Athletic Association is recommending a change in classifications in football to include socio-economic status for the 2023 season.
