Central Decatur Votes Against Cross Country Sharing Agreement

Central Decatur’s School Board has started to prioritize the district’s facility needs. During their June meeting, the board reviewed the estimated costs with Estes Construction Executive Chad Alley. The board plans to address safety and security, HVAC, and roofing work. They will also be seeking funding sources.

Following a lengthy discussion, Central Decatur’s board voted not to share a Cross Country Program with the Lamoni School District for the 2021-22 school year. Board members approved purchasing 75 laptops for teachers using ESSER II funding. They tabled the purchase of laptop bags to verify to number and condition of bags needed.

The board reviewed providing wireless internet on buses to serve as mobile community hot spot and to provide access for students during routes and activity trips. There was not a motion made on the consideration. A motion to purchase a replacement driver’s education vehicle died due to the lack of a second.

Central Decatur approved several contracts with 3 percent pay increases for the 2021-22 school year.

The board approved continuing the Home School Assistance Program for 2021-22. Manuel Atwood will serve as coordinator. The board accepted the District Career Plans for 2020-21. The plan provides individual career and academic planning process for grades 8th through 12th.
