Clay County Proposition A Passes to Fund 911 Services

Voters in Clay County approved a cell phone fee on Tuesday to help fund 911 services.

Unofficial results from the Clay County Board of Election Commissioners say 14,504 total votes were cast.

With 60.9% of the total, 8,833 voters said yes.

39.1%, or 5,671 voters, said no.

Proposition A’s one-dollar monthly fee will go into effect on wireless and VoIP (voice over internet protocol) phones on April 1.

At the same time, the current landline fee will be eliminated.

In 2022, 89% of 911 calls made in Clay County came from wireless or VoIP devices.
