(Missourinet) The Conservation Department has set a southern Missouri hunting quota of 40 black bears for the fall season.
Conservation says 6,335 Missourians paid $10 each for a chance at 400 permits to kill a bear in Missouri’s 1st bear hunting season this fall. The hunting areas are all south of the Missouri River. 9,714 people applied for one of five elk hunting permits MDC will be issuing this season for a harvest total of five bull elk. The permit lottery has been lucrative for the department with a combined recent total of more than $160,000 in revenue.
