COVID Cases Increase In Daviess and Livingston Counties

Two area counties are reporting an increase in the number of COVID 19 cases, and in one county more deaths have also occurred this week.

On Tuesday the Livingston County Health Center announced another death related to COVID, bringing the County death toll up to 77. The last death reported in Livingston County from COVID related issues was August 18.

Each day this week they have also announced more new cases of the virus, with 10 new cases announced Monday, four more on Tuesday and another two cases announced Wednesday.

The Daviess County Health Department this (Thursday) morning announced their latest numbers, showing 12 new active cases since their last report on Friday, August 20. The County reports 34 active cases up from 22 one week ago, with a total of 841 cases since the pandemic began.

Luckily the Daviess County death toll stayed steady at 17 since the start of the pandemic.

In other area counties the numbers have been mixed, with DeKalb County showing five fewer active cases on Wednesday at 31 total active cases, Gentry County saw one more case this week with 24 active cases, and Worth County held steady at four active cases since their last update. None of these three counties reported any new deaths.
