Craig Drivers Hurt After Accident Caused By Smoke From Field Fire

Smoke from a field fire is being blamed for a two vehicle accident that left a pair of Craig, Missouri men with injuries Tuesday.

Troop H of the Highway Patrol says a 2022 Ford F150 being driven by 47-year-old Craig resident Steven A. Portman was southbound on Beagle Road at 11:29 A.M. Tuesday when it entered an area of zero visibility due to a field fire. In that smoke screen the Ford struck a parked 2021 Dodge Durango, being operated by 31-year-old Craig resident Jonathan S. Black.

Both Portman and Black were reportedly wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, but both were left with injuries. Portman suffered moderate injuries while Black was left with minor injuries. Both men were taken by Atchison Holt Ambulance to Fairfax Community Hospital for treatment.
