Deer And Load Shift Caused Tractor Trailer Accident In Nodaway County

A Guilford man was injured when a deer caused an accident as he was operating a tractor-trailer.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 65 year old Raymond Morriss was driving northbound on Route KK at a slow rate of speed near Burlington Junction. He observed a deer in the roadway and swerved. That maneuver caused his trailer to travel off the roadway, the load shifted, and caused the trailer and the tractor cab to overturn. The tractor trailer landed on its side off the roadway.

The vehicle received extensive damage. Morriss was taken to Mosaic in Maryville with moderate injuries.

The accident took place at 9:40am Thursday morning.
