DESE Pushes For Permanent Teacher Pay Raises

For the past two years, the Missouri Legislature and Governor Mike Parson have boosted funding for teacher recruitment and retention. Whether that effort continues is a wait and see game.

A statewide teacher recruitment and retention commission recommends a change in law to permanently raise the minimum starting teacher salary.

The commission also shared its recommendations with the Missouri Board of Education to help improve teacher working conditions.
