DNR Detects Elevated Levels of E-Coli in Lakes at Two Missouri State Parks

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Missouri Department of Natural Resources is keeping beaches at Thousand Hills State Park near Kirksville and Mark Twain State Park in Monroe County open, but swimming is not allowed after elevated levels of E-coli were detected.

DNR tests water at state parks weekly during the recreational season. They say elevated levels of E-coli are not uncommon during hot summer weather.
