Eagle Days Coming Up at Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge

The Missouri Department of Conservation will be offering Eagle Days events around the state.  Some events will include live eagle programs, exhibits, activities, videos, and guides with spotting scopes.

Eagle Days at Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge near Mound City will be Saturday, December 4th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, December 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Smithville Lake at Paradise Pointe Golf Course Clubhouse will host Eagle Days on January 8th and 9th.

The Department of Conservation says Missouri’s winter eagle watching is spectacular because of the big rivers, lakes and abundant wetlands.  The Show Me State is one of the leading lower 48 states for bald eagle viewing.

Each fall, thousands of bald eagles migrate south from Canada and the Great Lake states to hunt in Missouri.  More than 2,000 of the birds are typically reported in the state during winter.
