Early Grand Champions Announced At Missouri State Fair

A couple of Missouri State Fair exhibitors who will sell their animals in the Sale of Champions at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia have been announced after their exhibits were determined as grand champions.

Ty Murphy of Houstonia and the Kennedy 4-H Club exhibited the Grand Champion Wether Goat. The goat weighed 85 pounds. Rylee Anderson of Chillicothe showed the Reserve Champion with her 88 pound goat.

A sister and brother will have hams at the Missouri State Fair’s Sale of Champions. Carsyn Petree of Tipton showed the prize-winning ham at 19.91 pounds. Carter Petree’s ham weighed 20.71 pounds. Both are members of the Tipton 4-H Club.

16 lots will be offered on Saturday, August 20th at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Scholarship Program, administered by the Missouri State Fair Foundation.

Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Steers, Barrows, Lambs, Meat Goats, Pens of Chickens and Pens of Rabbits will be featured in the auction, along with the Grand and Reserve Grand Champion Hams and Bacons.
