Eigel Calls For Constitutional Amendment To Ban Foreign Ownership Of Missouri Farmland

(Missourinet) State Senator Bill Eigel wants to amend the Missouri Constitution to ban all foreign ownership of agricultural land in the state.

In a press release Wednesday, Eigel said he plans on pre-filing a bill in December, one month before the start of next year’s legislative session. It would give foreign owners two years to divest their farmland holdings, and any who don’t divest would have their farmland seized by the state of Missouri.

The announcement from Eigel’s office does not differentiate between foreign governments hostile to the U-S and those allied with us.

Eigel is also seeking the Republican nomination for Missouri governor
