Eigel Launches Bid For Missouri Governor With A Focus On Tax Cuts

The latest candidate to launch a campaign for Missouri governor wants to lower taxes.

Bill Eigel, a Republican, tells Missourinet that state government can function more efficiently with less money.

Eigel proposed lowering the personal property tax rate from 33-1/3 percent to 31 percent for autos, farm equipment, and other personal property, but it failed to make it across the finish line during this year’s legislative session.

Eigel, from the St. Charles area, faces off against Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe for the Republican nomination for governor. Also running for governor as a Democrat is House Minority Leader Crystal Quade.
