Evergy Says Power Capacity Available Through Extreme Heat Period

Evergy says they will have the generation capacity available to meet customer needs this week with extreme heat likely to increase the demand for power.

Evergy Chief Customer Officer Chuck Caisley says some outages have been experienced in the past few days, but those outages have been within the normal expectations for extremely hot weather.

Evergy works with the Southwest Power Pool. Southwest Power Pool coordinates power generation for the region.

Evergy reminds customers to help cool and prevent adding heat to their homes by cooking with small appliances, closing blinds and shades to block sunlight during the hottest part of the day, turning ceiling fans counterclockwise to push cool air down, weatherstripping inside door frames, and making sure filters are changed on HVAC systems.

Customers can report a power outage online or by calling 888-544-4852.
