Excelsior Springs Man Dies after Accident in Clay County

A man from Excelsior Springs died on Sunday after an accident in Clay County.
The Missouri Highway Patrol reports 32-year-old Jeremiah J. Hanke was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident just after 11 pm.
The report says Hanke failed to yield at 10:50 pm at the intersection of US-69 Highway and Stockdale Road and drove into the path of a vehicle driven by 67-year-old Billy R. French with his passenger, 63-year-old Sheila G. French, both from Richmond. Hanke’s vehicle struck the passenger side of the French’s vehicle, causing serious injury to Sheila French. Hanke was not wearing a seatbelt.
Billy French also suffered a moderate injury. Billy and Sheila French were taken by Excelsior Springs EMS to Liberty Hospital.
