Excelsior Springs Man Dies in Clay County Crash Monday
Troopers report an Excelsior Springs man died in a crash Monday morning in Clay County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred around 10:12 Monday morning on U.S. 69, at North Jesse James Road, as a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Excelsior Springs resident Richard A. Dobbins headed westbound.
Authorities report Dobbins failed to yield at a lighted intersection and struck a northbound vehicle driven by 32-year-old Lawson resident Michael P. Neary on the passenger side.
Neary’s vehicle then struck the front of a southbound vehicle driven by 54-year-old Cameron resident Jon W. Webber.
Troopers say Dobbins’ vehicle overturned into a ditch and ejected him.
Paramedic Scott Guthrie pronounced Dobbins dead at the scene.
Webber suffered minor injuries and sought treatment at Mosaic Hospital.
Authorities say Dobbins did not wear a seat belt at the time of the crash.
